Kallie Galloway - 4/13/22

Wildcat Wednesday Kallie Galloway

It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.

This week we are introducing you to Kallie Galloway!

-----------------------------

Job Title:
Special Education Teacher

Tell us about your family:
Family is a big part of my laugh. Last summer, my family doubled as I got married to my high school sweetheart of 7 years. Both of my parents taught at this school (my dad still does). My sister and I graduated from here. My dad's parents were teachers. Teaching is in my blood, I guess. Right now, it is just me and my husband. No kids yet. We enjoy hunting, being outside, and spending time with family.

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my first year as a teacher! I completed my student teaching in the fall (while beginning my teaching career) and became a certified teacher in January.

What makes you passionate about education?
My area is special because these are the students who don't want to be at school because they struggle so much. My passion comes from encouraging them to try their best. I love seeing their eyes light up when you praise them for a job well done. I want to see them succeed in life over school. After all, that is the main goal, at least for me.

What is your must-have classroom item?
Paper Mate Flair pens in every color imaginable.

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
None. This is my home. At first, I thought I wanted to teach kindergarten. Then, I was offered this job. I fell in love with it....

What is something about you that might surprise people?
Umm... this is a tough one. Maybe that I am teaching at the same school as my dad? Or the fact that I graduated from here in 2017 and came back to teach at 2021. I like chickens. We are currently raising pigs. I collect salt and pepper shakers. That's pretty weird, I guess...

What is one item on your bucket list?
I want to see the Grand Canyon. I think that would be awesome!

We’re so glad you’re a Wildcat, Kallie!
