Jeff Moore - 9/20/23

Wildcat Wednesday Jeff Moore

It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.

This week we are introducing you to Jeff Moore!

-----------------------------

Job Title:
High School Visual Arts Teacher

Tell us about your family:
I have been blessed with a beautiful wife, Alesha (who I met in high school) and three boys. Our oldest is a junior, our middle is in eighth grade, and our youngest is in third grade. We have lived in Rogersville since 2007.

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my third year, first year at LR!

What makes you passionate about education?
I want to inspire students to create something good with their life. Especially inspiring those who do not believe in themselves to reach their full potential. I once hated school, had poor grades, and did not believe I could make it through college. That led me to spend 18 years as a carpenter. I realized in my mid thirties that what I once believed about myself as a teen was not true. I ended up graduating with honors from MSU receiving my Art Education degree, and starting a new career at the age of 40.

What is your must-have classroom item?
A sink! I once taught a 6 week summer school painting class (in a different district) without a sink in the classroom.

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I wouldn’t want to teach anything different but if I had to choose, it would be Shop or Building Trades.

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I’ve been married for 22 years.

What is one item on your bucket list?
I would love to visit several different places in Europe.
