Amy Wood Wildcat Wednesday banner

It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.

This week we are introducing you to Amy Wood!

-----------------------------

Job Title:
 High School Counselor

Tell us about your family (human and/or fur family):
I have a wonderful husband and two children. A third grader and sixth grader at LR.

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my 12th year.

How long have you worked for LR?
4 years

Why did you choose to work for LR?
I fell in love with the mission of the High School - To prepare all students for college, career and life.

What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
The family environment.

How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
I wanted to be able to positively impact lives. I had some great teachers in my life and I wanted to help others, too.

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I studied abroad in Australia during college.

What is your favorite quote?
To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
If I wasn't a counselor I would most likely still be a teacher. I taught FACS and I loved the practicality and variety of the subject.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I would like to learn sign language.

What do you like to do when you're not at school?
Hang out with my family and watch movies.
