It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.

This week we are introducing you to Shellie Lawson!

-----------------------------

Job Title:
Administrative Assistant @ High School

Tell us about your family (human and/or fur family):
My husband Les and I have been married for 25 years. We have a daughter Brennon who will be 23 in a few weeks. And 2 sons; Collin who is 20 and Weston is 18 and a senior this year. We moved from Springfield to Rogersville a few months after we were married.
We have a cat named Claws and a dog named Christmas; I know how it sounds..the cat will let you pet him briefly before the 'Claws' come out and Weston got his dog for Christmas 8 years ago or so.

How long have you worked for LR?
This is my 10th year at LR.

What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
This school has the best faculty, staff and students. I have always said that because we spend more time at work then we do at home, you need to enjoy what you do. And I do! LRHS is my second family. I love interacting with the students and I have an enormous amount of respect for each and every person that makes LR great.

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I'm actually really shy when I am surrounded by strangers.

What is your favorite quote?
I don't really have a favorite quote. I try to live by a lot of the old sayings that I grew up hearing. Do unto others....don't cry over spilled milk....there's a reason for everything. etc.. I always try to find the good in what’s not so great, I try to be respectful of everyone regardless of my opinion and I always try to smile even when times are tough. Laughter really is the best medicine!

What's the weirdest job you've ever had?
I worked for many years at a place called National Audio. They make and record cassette tapes. It is the only place in the country possibly the world that makes the tape that goes inside audio cassettes.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
Rock Star

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Sing and sound good doing it. I literally sing all of the time - someone will say something that makes me think of a song - I do feel sorry for those around me when I get my rock star out!

What do you like to do when you're not at school?
When I'm not at school, I love spending time with my family - whether we are cooking, camping, floating or playing volleyball in the pool (although I'm not very good at it).
