It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.
This week we are introducing you to Tabitha Richardson!
Teacher for the Early-Childhood Special Education class
Tell us about your family (human and/or fur family):
I have been married for 14 years to my Husband Steve. He is a preacher at the Plainview Church of Christ and works as a Manager of Purcell Tire Company in Springfield Mo. I have a son who is 11 years old. His name is Leo Richardson. He loves Star wars and Dinosaurs. We love to camp in our RV in Branson, put together jigsaw puzzles, and hike.
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
I have been a Substitute Teacher in the Logan-Rogersville School District for 6 years. I was a student teacher in Mrs. Guison's Kindergarten class last fall. This is my first full-time teaching position.
Why did you choose to work for LR?
I am a Wildcat! I graduated from LR. I have lived in Rogersville my whole life and I have worked in other school districts while attending college and I know from these experiences that this is the best school in the area.
What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
The people. As a substitute, I have been in every building and no matter where I was, or what I was doing, there has always been a kind person or a helping hand when I needed it. In the Early-Childhood wing of the primary building I have had tremendous support. I ask a lot of questions, and everyone has been very patient and helpful.
How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
I have a background in business. I worked in that world for about 10 years. I came to teaching after we adopted Leo. I have always loved working with children at church. After substituting, I knew this is what I wanted to do. I love to see how fast a child's mind works and grows. I like being able to explain something to a child and see the moment when he/she gets it. I like knowing I had a part in that moment.
What is something about you that might surprise people?
I love to sing. My church family sings at the Glendale Gardens Nursing Home every month. It's one of my favorite things to do.
What is your favorite quote?
"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and mind your own business, work with your hands. So, that you will walk in a way that influences others." 1 Thessalonians 4:11
What do you like to do when you're not at school?
My family loves to hike. We have been on many different trails in the area. We have also played Mini-golf at every mini-golf place in Branson!
Anything else you would like people to know about you?
I am so happy to be working in this school. It is a dream of mine to get to work in this district. I am a proud Wildcat!
Welcome to LR Tabitha!
