It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.
This week we are introducing you to Vickie Cantrell!
Food Service Director
Tell us about your family (human and/or fur family):
I have two brothers and one sister. I have been married for 41 years to my husband Dan. He recently retired from Cox health after 40 years of service. I have two sons. Eric and his wife Courtney live in Ozark and have two wonderful boys - Nevin, 8 and Cohen, 5. Scott and his wife Brendi live in Minneapolis. I have a fur baby that I adore named Sadie Belle the cat..
How long have you worked for LR?
13 awesome years!
What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
That's easy, the kiddos! I tell my staff you only have a short window of time to make an impact on a child, do not let it get away!
What is something about you that might surprise people?
I have a twin brother named Rick. We were a total surprise - my mother only gained 11 pounds. They told my dad “congrats, you have a son” and 10 minutes later “congrats again you have a girl!” He passed out and broke the hospital chair.
I served on the Fordland Board of education for 18 years, 14 as Board President.
What is your favorite quote?
“IF YOU’RE AWARE OF IT, TAKE CARE OF IT”
What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
11-7 Shift (Graveyard) in an emergency room in Kansas City. Spooky.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
Quite honestly there is nothing that makes me happier than to feed kids. Greatest job in the world!
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Drive a train - toot my horn very loudly and wave at kiddos as I drive through town!
What do you like to do when you're not at school?
Family, friends, go to the lake, but most of all play with my grandsons.
Thanks for being a Wildcat Vickie! The LR school and community is so lucky to have you!
