It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.
This week we are introducing you to Hannah Garrett!

Job Title:
High School Science Teacher and Head Girls Golf Coach
Tell us about your family:
I am married to an LR alum, Ethan Garrett. He currently teaches history at Chadwick High School. We are expecting a baby boy in November and couldn’t be more excited! We also have a 4-year-old rescue dog named Pippen.
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my 8th year at LR and 8th year in education.
What makes you passionate about education?
I’m passionate about education for two big reasons. First, I’ve been lucky to be surrounded by amazing educators who have made a lasting impact on my life. Both of my parents were educators, and I got to see firsthand the difference they made for their students and how that impact continues even after they’ve retired. Second, I’ve always wanted to be the adult I needed when I was a student. Teaching gives me the chance to be that calm, patient person in a student’s corner, cheering them on and helping them reach their potential.
What is your must-have classroom item?
My LG Interactive Whiteboard, funded by the LREF Grant. Also...a Dr. Pepper.
If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
Gifted education
What is something about you that might surprise people?
While in college, I worked overnight shifts in the ER at Mercy and also coached volleyball and basketball in the evenings at Jarrett Middle School.
What is one item on your bucket list?
Travel to Europe with my husband.

Hannah, we’re so glad to have you as part of the team at LR!
