Fifth Grade Teacher

Tell us about your family (human and/or fur family):
I have a small family, but we are all very close. My parents live in Ozark, Missouri. I have one younger brother who is a student at Missouri State University. Our family has two dogs, a Labrador named Casey and a Jack Russell named Chance.

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
I did a yearlong internship program my senior year of college at Logan-Rogersville. I was at the Elementary building in a second-grade classroom. After graduating, I was hired for a fifth-grade position at Logan-Rogersville. I have now been a teacher for two years.

What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
The support I receive from my coworkers. Since I am still new, having their support has helped me be successful in my beginning years of teaching. Also, the sense of community in the building makes it a great place to work.

How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
My grandma was also an elementary school teacher which makes it feel like it is in my genes. Saying that I was going to be a teacher when I grew up always felt right. It is a gift that God has blessed me with, and I love using my gift every day at LR.

What is something about you that might surprise people?
Soon I will be graduating with my master’s degree in Literacy.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I would love to learn another language, probably Spanish.

What do you like to do when you're not at school?
I love to spend time with my family and go shopping!
