It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.
This week we are introducing you to Emily Jacobs!
Tell us about your family (human and/or fur family):
My husband Jon and I have 2 little boys, Sawyer and Hudson.
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
I have been teaching kindergarten at Rogersville for 8 years.
Why did you choose to work for LR?
I grew up at LR and absolutely loved going to school here, so of course I wanted to teach here too! Thankfully there was a position open after I graduated college, so I got to start out teaching at my top choice district, and I plan to work here my whole career!
What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
I love that even though some things have changed over the years, it still feels like home. I always tell people I have the best job in the world teaching kindergarten at Rogersville. I love so many things about working at LR, but I think my favorite things are my work family, my own children getting to come to school with me (daycare), and of course the kiddos I get to learn alongside each day in the classroom!
How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
I love to learn and I love kids, so it only made sense to be an elementary teacher and help kids start school off on a positive note and spark their love of learning that will hopefully continue with them for a lifetime.
If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I grew up wanting to be a music teacher and changed my mind somewhere along the way, so I think I would teach music if I were to teach something different.
What stereotype about teachers is true?
We love kids! That's why we do what we do!
What is your favorite quote?
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness!
What do you like to do when you're not at school?
Spending time with our boys, I love a good card game, iced coffee, and shopping trip, as well as traveling and spending time with family.
Thanks Emily! We are so glad you are a part of LR!
