"Test to Stay" Option 10/21/21

October 21, 2021

Topic: New COVID-19 Exposure & Quarantine Option

The Health Departments’ quarantine measures for LR have been revised to include a NEW “Test to Stay” option for unvaccinated students and staff. The LR Board of Education approved the revision to the Return to Learn Plan at the October 20, 2021 meeting.

Quarantine FACTS:

If you have been identified as a close contact to a known COVID+ case in the school setting, the following health department measures apply;

Unvaccinated students and staff who consent to the NEW “Test to Stay” Option:

  • Are required to quarantine outside of school
  • Can continue to attend school
  • Can continue to participate in school activities (co-curricular & extra-curricular)
  • Can continue to ride the bus and attend CatCare
  • Must wear a mask consistently and correctly at all times (other than eating/drinking)
  • Must distance 6 feet from others when eating/drinking
  • Must consent to and receive three negative rapid tests in the first seven days of becoming an identified close contact with the first test occurring upon identification as a close contact
  • Testing must occur upon entry to school and before returning to the classroom setting
  • Must test on the day of contest/game (test can count as one of the three tests, but may be in addition to the three test)
  • Test must be administered by the school nurse or health care provider, pharmacy, etc. (at-home tests not accepted)
  • For the next 14 days, you must remain symptom free, continue to practice precautions, monitor for symptoms, and get tested if presenting symptoms

If a secondary exposure is identified throughout testing of the close contact cohort, “Test to Stay” is no longer an option and all close contacts must revert to normal quarantine measure of your local health department.

Unvaccinated students and staff who do not consent to the NEW “Test to Stay” Option:

  • Must follow the traditional quarantine measures of your local health department

Fully vaccinated student and staff who do not have COVID-like symptoms:

  • Are not required to quarantine
  • Can continue to attend school
  • Can continue to participate in school activities (co-curricular & extra-curricular)
  • Must wear a mask indoors for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result
  • May test 3-5 days following the known exposure
  • For the next 10-14 days, you must continue to practice precautions, monitor for symptoms, and get tested if presenting symptoms
