Personal Electronic Communication Devices
To minimize distractions, enhance student engagement and comply with new state law outlined in Senate Bill 68, LR students will not be permitted to use Electronic Personal Communication Devices during the school day. Beginning during the 2025-2026 school year, Electronic Personal Communication Devices MUST be turned off, stored in backpacks, and remain out of sight for the entirety of the school day.
WHAT IS A PERSONAL DEVICE
Cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, headphones/earbuds and any other electronic device (including watches) that can be used for communication, entertainment or accessing the internet.
HOW THIS WILL BE ENFORCED
Students who violate policy will be asked to turn in their electronic personal communication device to the office. Additional discipline will be assigned as outlined in the Student Handbook. Students who refuse to turn in their device may face further disciplinary action. Continued violation of policy could result in loss of devices while on school campus.
HOW FAMILIES CAN HELP
Talk with your student about the new expectations. Remind them to keep their devices turned off and put away during the school day. If you need to reach your child during school hours, please contact the school office. We also understand there may be unique situations—students who need devices due to specific educational or health needs will be accommodated as appropriate.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION!
