Jen Sandvos - 10/15/25

It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.
This week we are introducing you to Jen Sandvos!
-----------------------------
Job Title:
6th grade S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) and Math teacher
Tell us about your family:
I am recently married to Jason, and we just celebrated our first anniversary last month! I have two adult daughters, who both graduated from LR: Katie, who is in her first year of dental hygiene school at Missouri Southern, and Julie, who is married to Kris and has Avery, my first granddaughter!
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
16 years
What makes you passionate about education?
I love to see the moment the students catch the excitement of a new concept, the "I get it!" moment. I don't get to see it everyday, or even every week, but when it does happen, it makes all of the challenges of teaching worth it.
What is your must-have classroom item?
My students would say, COFFEE! I must agree with them, that and a sense of humor.
If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I would love to teach history--at any grade level.
What is something about you that might surprise people?
I have been to the bottom of the Grand Canyon--on a mule. It was quite the experience. One I cherish, since it was a trip with my mom and grandma.
What is one item on your bucket list?
I would love to go on an Alaskan cruise.

Thanks for being a part of the Wildcat family, Jen!
