It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.

This week we are introducing you to Autumn Quinn!

-----------------------------

Job Title:
Middle School ELA Educator

Tell us about your family (human and/or fur family):
I graduated high school from Camdenton, where my mother is still a bus driver. I moved to SpringfieId a few years ago. I just recently got engaged to my boyfriend. We have 2 ferrets, a cat, and a bunch of fish.

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
I've worked three to four years in education.

How long have you worked for LR?
I've worked for LR for about three months, but the plan is to be a lifer.

Why did you choose to work for LR?
I choose to work for LR because of the family atmosphere that the district has.

What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
I love the support I receive from my colleagues. The kids I teach have amazing personalities. It is so welcoming here.

How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
I used to be a dental assistant; I loved when kids were my patients. I realized that I was in the wrong career field and went back to school to change the environment that I got to interact with kids.

What's the greatest misconception about teachers?
Teachers get summers off and they only work 8 to 3 each day!

What stereotype about teachers is true?
We are hoarders. Some of us are just better at hiding it.
We don't stop being teachers when the school day is over.

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I've been this tall since the 6th grade. (5 foot 2)

What is your favorite quote?
"Failing isn't falling down...it's staying down." -Anonymous
"Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." -Anonymous

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
If I wasn't a teacher, I would organize community events or I would work for nonprofit organizations such as Convoy of Hope, Ozarks Food Harvest, Ronald McDonald House, etc.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I would love to learn how to play the violin, salsa dance, and drive a manual.

What do you like to do when you're not at school?
I go to movie trivia on Tuesdays. I host board game nights at my place on Fridays. I love to go to yard sales on Saturday mornings. I love to curl up with a good book on cold, dreary days. I play video games with my boyfriend. I will be playing coed volleyball starting next Thursday.

Anything else you would like people to know about you?
Teachers are also life long learners!
Thank you for welcoming me to the LR family.
