LOGAN-ROGERSVILLE R-VIII VOCAL MUSIC CURRICULUM
EIGHTH GRADE

COURSE RATIONALE

Besides being specifically aimed to choral performance, the purpose of grade eight vocal music is to enhance and nurture the student in the many areas of vocal music.  Through specific lessons and rehearsal techniques, the student will continue to build a foundation for a future in high school choral music.  The areas of study include honor choirs, three and four-part literature, musical theatre, choral aesthetics, music theory, ear training, sight reading, group projects, music videos, creative writing assignments, listening, visual tools, semester concerts, individual and ensemble performance, and class discussion.  By studying and performing high quality choral literature, the student will be able to pursue a future in vocal music if they desire, either in high school or even as a career.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

A performance based class designed to build on the student’s past choral music experience and prepare them for the transition to the high school choral music.  Through daily rehearsal and instruction, the student will be challenged with more vocally difficult literature and activities.
