LOGAN-ROGERSVILLE R-VIII VOCAL MUSIC CURRICULUM

SEVENTH GRADE

COURSE RATIONALE

Besides being more specifically geared to choral performance, the purpose of grade seven vocal music is to encourage and nurture the student in the wide world of choral and vocal music.  Through activities and lessons aimed at strengthening the ever changing and growing middle school voice, the student will build a strong foundation for future music endeavors.  Areas of study include musical theatre, choral literature, three-part singing, music theory, ear training, sight reading, group projects, music videos, creative writing assignments, listening, visual tools, semester concerts, ensemble singing, individual creativity, and discussion.  By studying good choral aesthetics and the various avenues of vocal music, the student will be able to recognize the difference between excellent choral music and poorly written literature.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
