COURSE
RATIONALE
Besides building a foundation for vocal music at the
middle school level, the purpose of grade six vocal music is to give the
students the opportunity to express themselves artistically on both individual
and group level. This is implemented
through the use of two-part singing, ear training, sight-reading, proper vocal
care and production, listening, visual tools, music theory, performing, class
discussion and participation. By
involving the students musically, they are able to express themselves.
A general course designed to introduce students to
the middle school level of vocal music.
Instructional time consists of one class per week. Material covered will include very general
music concepts, theory, and avenues for performance.
