COURSE
RATIONALE
Geometry provides students with skills that
allow them to analyze and find solutions to everyday situations. Those skills help students to enhance their
intellectual, social, and emotional well-being.
Geometry also enables students to become analytic thinkers and problem
solvers which allows the students to evolve with the technological changes of
the 21st century. Finally,
Geometry helps students to improve their communication skills when working in
groups; these communication skills enable students to accept others viewpoints
when looking for a
solution
to a problem.
Geometry provides study in the following
topics: relationships between points,
lines, and planes; study of congruency in geometric figures; organizational
skills, similarity and ratios; right triangle trigonometry; study of circles;
formulas of areas and volumes; and graphing.
Through the study of theses topics, Geometry provides students with the
analytic and problem-solving skills needed to excel in any given
environment. Students learn the process
of indirect reasoning which is used in everyday life. It also allows the student to become an
informed consumer and productive citizen of our society.
