LOGAN-ROGERSVILLE LIBRARY CURRICULUM
ELEMENTARY
COURSE RATIONALE
Based on the philosophy of the Greene County R-VIII
School District, the Library Media Centers (LMCs) serve an integral part of the
district’s education system. The mission
of the Library Media program is to provide an environment that enables students
and staff to be effective users of ideas and information. The LMCs will provide students with an
environment and materials to facilitate students in lifelong thinking, learning
and communicating effectively in order to assume the full responsibility of
American citizenship. The LMCs will
provide materials and support to facilitate the staff in curriculum needs and
professional growth.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Library Science is a general course designed to
provide an understanding of circulation policies, appropriate library behavior,
proper care of library materials, location skills, use of the computerized
catalog, familiarity with the fiction and nonfiction, as well as reference
