LOGAN-ROGERSVILLE R-VIII FINE ARTS CURRICULUM

DRAMA

COURSE RATIONALE

Since art has essentially been a reflection of the world around us, drama allows students to look at the social, political, emotional, psychological, and historical influences of our society through the reading, viewing, analyzing, and participating in various dramatic performances.  By looking at the past, we sometimes have a better understanding of the present, which in turn, allows us to project into the future.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will be given an overview understanding of drama, including its history, acting, directing, stagecraft, costumes, makeup, and the business of play production.  They will also be given the opportunity to be involved in the competitive side of oral interpretation.  Students will be exposed to a variety of theatre/drama genres (by reading, viewing, analyzing, and participating).
