Selection Procedure:
As taken from the National Honor Society Handbook, “Selection
of students for membership, however, is the responsibility
of the local school through its faculty council. ”
1. The selection procedure will be determined by the faculty council.
2. Students’ academic records will be reviewed to determine the first
step in eligibility. (Just because a student makes good grades does not mean
he/she will be admitted into NHS. This is not an honor roll.)
3. Students who are eligible scholastically will be notified in writing and
will be given the Student Activity Information Form (application) to be completed
by a specific date.
4. The Student Activity Information Form (application) will be reviewed by
the faculty council, along with any other verifiable information about each
candidate and his or her activities which define the candidate’s leadership,
service, and character.
5. Selection: Candidates receiving a 75% or higher on the accumulated scoring
sheets, will be asked to become a member of NHS.
6. Notification: All candidates, whether chosen for NHS or not, will be notified
in writing. Students who are selected, and their parents, will be invited to
the induction ceremony. All new members will be given the BY-LAWS of NHS and
should hold true to the doctrine set before them.
