Substitute Information

All Substitute Teacher Applicants:
1. Applicants must hold a valid (unexpired) Missouri Teacher's Certificate or a Missouri Substitute Certificate. See instructions below pertaining to your status.
2. Complete the Substitute Teacher Employment Application (Word, PDF)
3. Crimnial Background Checks Any offer of substitute employment is contingent upon the satisfactory outcome of the criminal background checks.  In accordance with Missouri Statute 168.133, RSMo., and as reflected in Board Policy GBEBC, all regular and substitute employees of the Logan-Rogersville School District are required to undergo criminal background checks as follows:   

  1. An FBI/Highway Patrol fingerprint background check is required (unless you have had a background check to substitute for another district that is dated less than 1 year from the date of application). See the FBI/Highway Patrol Procedure link for instructions to schedule your fingerprint scan appointment.  The fee for the fingerprint scan is $44.80.  Payment is due at the time of the scan and is your responsibility.
  2. A check of the central registry of child abuse and neglect of the Children’s Division, Department of Social Services is required.  Please complete the Request for Child Abuse or Neglect/Criminal Record form and attach it to your application.  Provide your information in the sections below the highlighted “Identifying Data” line, sign, and date.  There is no fee for this check. 
  3. A search of Missouri Case.net is also required.  There is no fee for this check.  


4 Complete the W-4 and Direct Deposit forms Info.  (When submitting payroll documents, two forms of identification are required for the federally mandated, on-site ID check.)

5. Personally submit your application and additional forms to:  Becky Mathenia, L-R Administration Office, 100 E. Front St., Rogersville, MO 65742

Update from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education – 8/29/2011:  Individuals who hold a valid (unexpired) Missouri Teacher’s Certificate are no longer required to apply for a Missouri Substitute Certificate.

Attach a copy of your valid (unexpired) Missouri Teacher’s Certificate to your substitute application, along with evidence of a fingerprint background clearance dated less than a year from the date of application.  Personally submit all items to the L-R Administration Office.

1) Applicant submits application for a substitute certificate through Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s on-line Educator Licensure system. Read detailed information at http://dese.mo.gov/eq/cert/CertHelpGuide.html


2) To begin the application process, go to http://dese.mo.gov and click on “DESE Web Applications.”

3) Applicants must mail original transcripts to DESE (write “SUB CERT” and include your educator ID or SS#). Mail to

4) The applicant’s background clearance and  substitute certificate will be “issued” on-line, not mailed.
NOTEBEFORE submitting your Substitute Teacher Employment Application to the Logan-Rogersville Administration Office, verify that your Missouri Substitute Certificate has been issued on-line in the Educator Licensure system.  Print a copy of your substitute certificate and evidence of your fingerprint background clearance dated less than a year from the date of application.  Personally submit all items to the L-R Administration Office.
